The Gambler is based on the 1974 film of the same name. Wahlberg plays Jim Bennett, a university professor of English literature and a big-time gambler. He lets his students fix games so that he can profit from the gambling. As his gambling addiction gets worse, his life becomes a disaster. Due to the high debt, he has to borrow money from a loan shark, Frank, at the cost of his own life.
