Plot:
Under the brutal rule of the Taliban, civilians, especially women, live in Afghanistan in dire straits. The stubborn little girl Parvana (voiced by Saara Chaudry) goes out with her father (voiced by Ali Rizvi Badshah) to earn money to support her family. She not only witnesses her father being insulted and humiliated by his former students, but also witnesses her father being illegally arrested with her family. With a sick mother, an adult sister and a hungry brother, the young Parvana can only cut her hair, disguise herself as a boy and walk out of the house, embarking on a life-or-death journey to support her family. In the process, she meets her former partner who also dresses as a boy, and becomes friends with a silent and burly Taliban member. When the shadow of war approaches again, Parvana tries every means to find her missing father and bring him home... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Deborah Ellis.
