Adapted from the novel of the same name written by Norman Lebrecht, it tells the story of two teenagers, Martin and Dovedor, who become life-and-death friends in London during World War II. Dovedor is a violinist who has fled from Warsaw and lives in Martin's home. However, on the night of the premiere of Dovedor's violin recital, he mysteriously disappeared, and this incident has been a knot in Martin's heart for decades.
