The story takes place in a martial arts school in a small inland city in China in the late 1990s. Under the high-pressure management of the principal, there is a teenager named Zhang Cuishan (played by Hou Yunxiao) who doesn't fit in. He has no interest in martial arts, but has a strong talent for learning cultural knowledge. However, because he is in a martial arts school, his embarrassing attribute makes his life very miserable. He tried to escape many times, but failed. Until one day, the arrival of a young cultural teacher (played by Jin Jingcheng) broke the balance in the martial arts school.
