On Christmas Eve, a writer receives a mysterious phone call. The person on the other end of the phone is none other than the only Santa Claus in the world, Nicholas (Hannu-Pekka Björkman). Our story tells the fantastic life of this legendary old man. Nicholas, who unfortunately became an orphan since childhood, lives on a small island in Finland, where residents take turns to take care of Nicholas. In order to thank the kind people who adopted him, Nicholas would give a small gift made by himself to express his gratitude whenever he was about to leave a family. The outbreak of famine has caused the residents to panic. In desperation, they sent Nicholas to a man named Lisazi (John Turturro) as an apprentice. It was this special experience that changed Nicholas' life.
