A young maid meets a nobleman in a hotel and quickly falls in love with him. She then follows him to a private estate by the sea. She gradually discovers that the housekeeper of the estate does not like her and her husband seems to have a secret. She feels the shadow of the former hostess of the estate, Rebecca, is everywhere. When she is on the verge of collapse, the truth about Rebecca's death gradually surfaces... The original version was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starred Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. It was based on the novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier.
