Plot:
Joel Edgerton will write and direct a new film, Boy Erased, starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. The film is adapted from Gerard Conley's autobiography of the same name. The story tells the story of a pastor's son (played by Hedges) in a conservative town in Arkansas who is rejected by his family because of his homosexual orientation. Kidman and Crowe play his parents. The film will start shooting this fall. Story summary: In a feudal and conservative town in Arkansas, the 19-year-old son of a Baptist pastor comes out to his parents. The boy is forced to participate in a homosexual correction program supported by the church to "cure" his homosexuality, otherwise he will pay the price of losing his relatives, friends and religious beliefs. He initially participated in a cruel treatment with 12 steps, but finally mustered up the courage to escape and chose to embrace his true self.
