In 1916, the Arab Revolt broke out. After being ordered to land on the Arabian Peninsula, British Lieutenant Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) decided to lead the Arabs to capture Aqaba. While crossing the desert, Lawrence went against all odds and returned alone to rescue the missing Gasim (IS Johar). This move won the respect of everyone. Aliibnel Kharish (Omar Sharif) Sharif even asked Lawrence to change into Sharif's robe, and Lawrence gladly accepted it. However, the Arab tribes were not harmonious. Gasim of the Harith tribe killed people from the Howeitat tribe, and the two sides were on the verge of a war. In order to quell the dispute, Lawrence personally executed Gasim, but the pleasure of killing made Lawrence feel uneasy.
