The story is set in a remote villa in Tuscany, Italy in the 1950s. Emilia Clarke plays a nurse named Verena, who is hired to take care of the young heir who stops talking after losing his mother, hoping to help him restore communication. But as Verena observes the young master step by step, she begins to find something wrong. It seems that there is a powerful and mysterious curse controlling the child, and this curse comes from a stone wall in the villa.
