In 2015, the Russian Aerospace Forces went on an expedition to Syria. At the Khmeimim Air Base in Syria, pilot Lieutenant Colonel Soshnikov and navigator Captain Muravyov met at the Khmeimim military base. During a reconnaissance flight, the fighter-bomber piloted by Soshnikov was shot down by a Turkish fighter. This sensational incident was reported by all media in the world, and the whole of Russia was paying attention to the progress of the rescue operation. After the fighter plane was shot down, Oleg Soshnikov and Konstantin Muravyov both ejected successfully, but only one of them was destined to return home alive.
