In Beijing dialect, "laopaoer" refers to an old hooligans who do nothing but walk around with caged birds. Liu Ye (played by Feng Xiaogang) was once one of the "old hooligans" who "run rampant" in old Beijing. Now he lives a leisurely life, but he doesn't want his son Xiaobo (played by Li Yifeng) to be involved in a dispute with "young master" Xiaofei (played by Wu Yifan). Liu Ye tried to settle the dispute and asked his old friends Men Saner (played by Zhang Hanyu), Hua Xizi (played by Xu Qing), and Dengzhaoer (played by Liu Hua) for help, but found that there was already a group of new "talkers" in this era. His status as a stubborn leader has been shaken, and his previous lifestyle has been gradually abandoned by the times. Can Lian Po still make a living at an old age?
