Retired military officer Lao Ding (played by Sammo Hung) lost his granddaughter due to amnesia and returned to his hometown with guilt. The neighbor girl Chunhua (played by Chen Peiyan) became his comfort. But the girl's father (played by Andy Lau) accidentally got involved in the fight between local gangs. Lao Ding stepped forward to rescue Chunhua, and also found the pride of being a soldier and made up for the mistakes of being a grandfather.
