Netflix is developing a film adaptation of Manu Joseph's novel of the same name, Serious Men. It tells the story of a cunning slum dweller who deceives the state into believing that his 10-year-old dim-witted son is a genius, and then realizes that the only victim of his dangerous game is his son. It will be adapted and directed by Sudhir Mishra.
