Lai Russo-Young (Seven Days, All the Wrong Things) will direct the new film The Sun Is Also a Star, starring Yara Shahidi (Black-ish, Salt). Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Nicola Yoon, the film tells the story of Natasha, a girl living in New York, who falls in love on the eve of her family's deportation and returns to her hometown of Jamaica. Her pragmatism will be challenged. Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) adapted the script, co-produced by Warner and MGM, and released in North America on May 17, 2019.
