The film is written and directed by Takehiko Inoue, the original author of Slam Dunk. It is also the fifth theatrical animation in the series and uses a new voice actor lineup. With Miyagi Ryouta as the main plot, it tells the story of the national competition between Shohoku High School and Sanno Industrial.
