The play is based on real historical events. It reflects the Kuomintang's plan to blow up the arsenal and important infrastructure of the Fog City before evacuating the mainland on the eve of the liberation of the Fog City, showing the desperate contest and peak confrontation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. Through the rise and fall of the three major families in the turbulent autumn, as well as the peculiar emotional encounters and fates between Fang Mengkai, Luo Dan and Dong Haimei, the play interprets the noble patriotic spirit of the protagonists in the play who face powerful enemies and their evil conspiracies, fight to the death, die generously, and shed their blood in the face of powerful enemies.
