This drama is adapted from the second part of a series of novels. The series is a full-fledged crime suspense drama centered on the "heterogeneous combination" of Kihara Keijiro (Kiritani), a mysterious intelligence officer who manipulates society behind the scenes and is proficient in various information on politics, economy, entertainment, and the underworld, and Mishima Kanji (Sano), a reporter for the gossip weekly "Weekly Times" who believes in using his pen to fight against power.
