Plot:
Six Triple Eight tells the inspiring and incredible true story of the first and only brave women of color regiment to serve overseas during World War II. Facing racism and sexism, an unfamiliar land and a war-torn country, they persevered, sorting more than 17 million pieces of mail in just three months, allowing American soldiers to reconnect with their families and loved ones back home. Contacted. The motto that keeps these women going every day is one of their own creation: "No mail, low morale." The women of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion are not just facilitating the delivery of mail, they are also delivering hope. The story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion has been left out of the history books and ignored by the entire country—until now. On March 14, 2022, President Joe Biden signed legislation awarding these women Congress’s highest honor—the Congressional Gold Medal.
